The Lyngdorf TDA2200 is the successor to the Tact M2150 full digital amplifer. It now includes a full blown DSP section that includes 20 bands of Parametric equalisation as well as filters for creating crossovers for multi-amp active speakers.

During May/June 2006 Lyndorf will be releasing an addin DSP board that will offer a more advanced room correction Module, called "Room Perfect". This will identify speakers and environments before deciding automatically on target curves and 'do's and don'ts' in the room.

Having just acquried one of this in April 2006, this section is documentation of experience of using this new highly scalable solution. --mikec 20:06, 2 May 2006 (BST)

Tact 2150 vs TDA2200

Volume Control

Volume control of Digital amplifiers can be done in one of two ways.

1. Digital Attenuation - Uisng the DSP to digitally scale the signal. This has the disadvantage of compression the effective resolution of the signal, because you are now trying to fit the full 90db range into something that is lower than 16bits.

2. Digitally control the Power Supply rails - this preserves the full digital resolution, but adds complexity to the power supply.

The TDA2200 uses digital a three step Volume control

1. Below 62dB it uses digital attenuation.

2. From 62dB to 88dB it regulates the H-bridge (Power supply) voltage in the

3. Above 88dB it does digital amplification in the DSP section

Because the TDA2200 runs at full resolution most of the time, you need to be careful that you dont make and level boost in the DSP section that may cause digital clipping. Most modern CD's are operating at -0.2DB so there is not a lot of headroom for the peaks before they clip. You can always use the shelving filters to attenuate the signal abit if you are experiencing clipping.

TDA DSP section

The TDA 2200 includes a very advanced DSP section which consists of the following modules.

1. Global Equalizer

2. Crossover Filter

2.5 Line Out Equaliser that links off the Crossover filter

3. Main Channel Equaliser

4. Main Channel Voicing Equaliser
