System Description
As you can see it's a constant work in process. I still need to veneer the main speakers, and build grills to keep my 2 year old daughter Kate out of the drivers...you can see the foam and cardboard childproofing.
I'm also building some shelving to fill the odd gaps next to my Centre speaker, the TV used to fill this space before the CRT projector addiction took hold.
The system's vital statistics are as follows:
- DIY 6.1 channel HT system with 11 speakers.
- 3 front L/C/R channels
- Fully active 2 ways + stereo Subs
- Focal TC-120TDX2 Tweeters
- Focal 7NV4411 7" Midbasses x 2 (MTM arrangement)
- Drivers from Acoustic Concepts
- Analog Active Crossover
- DIY 3 Channel, 3 way.
- 24dB/Octave Linkwitz Riley Crossovers at 110hz and 2400hz.
- Using PCBs from Rod Elliot
- Subwoofer
- IB sub using 4 x 15" long throw woofers, also bought from Acoustic Concepts. Manifolds mounted at ceiling, venting into the roof cavity.

- Surround Channels
- 6 (2 per channel) DIY wedge shaped speakers using Jaycar Response drivers, passive crossover
- Electronics
- Mainly Rotel - RSP-985 5.1 processor, RB-985 5 Channel amp, etc
- DIY 6.1 using old Prologic decoder in 3-Stereo bootstrapped across Rotel's surround channels (same as DD EX)
